Franchisees Testimonials

My husband David and I bought the Franchise for the Kinsale and Carrigaline area back in May this year and we have just opened our first two schools with a third looking likely after Christmas.  We have no experience in childcare other than we are parents of three, two of which are 8 and 5.

I started looking at opportunities as I wanted to do something that would still leave me free for the kids and I found Sherpa Kids.

It’s a wonderful concept and one where there is an untapped market.  Its unique selling point is that Sherpa Kids are 1. Onsite, 2 flexible and 3 affordable.  Just what parents need.

It has been a big learning curve but a very rewarding one.  Having the franchise has made the structure and organisational side of setting up a school so much easier.  I would never have achieved it on my own.  We have lovely qualified staff running the schools so we can use our time to target the next schools we want to open.

We have no regrets and we have not been on our own, John and Ann Marie have been helping us each step of the way and we now are offering support to other franchisees in Dublin and Kildare.

I hope this email helps you make a decision to contact John and find out more.

Teresa, Franchise Owner

From initial contact we found Sherpa kids Ireland to be professional and enthusiastic. As two mums with children of school going age wanting to return to work, it was a service we were looking for ourselves and decided to introduce it to our area.

The Sherpa kids model is in a league of it’s own when it comes to it’s offering of afterschool care. From the training and support from head office to the programs which we offer we have full confidence approaching schools and being part of the Sherpa Kids family.  Our working background is far removed from the childcare industry but the Sherpa kids franchise is so comprehensive that we had no hesitations in joining the family and providing these much needed services to our local area.

David & Teresa – A Sherpa Kid’s story in Kinsale and Carrigaline

My name is Teresa and twelve months ago, I was a stay at home mum, with a husband who worked in a different country.  With two children in primary school returning to a career was always going to be difficult but I was not ready to give us work just. With my husband David, we decided to research other working options that would be able to fit in with our lives. We found Sherpa Kids.

We loved the concept of high quality, affordable, flexible, safe after school care within the school and knew from experience as parents this kind of care was not always available.

We did some research and after much due diligence decided to buy the first franchise in Ireland. Slightly daunted our lack of experience in running such a business, and being the first in the country we signed up in May 2015. We quickly found our passion for high quality care and the structure of the brand worked well together and we approached three schools. We worked hard on being clear on the Sherpa Kids brand but also on the things that we felt were critical to building a relationship with a school, the children and their parents.  Supported by John and Ann Marie, we worked together to build our business.

It worked! Two of the schools we approached wanted us to work with us. Now our real work begun. We had to set the services up and find what we now know is the most important ingredient, Staff who care as passionately as we did about the services we provide. We interviewed and with a little luck and some interviews we found the outstanding quality of staff we were looking for. With our newly recruited staff we quickly developed relationships with the principals at each school. Navigating through the setup of the facilities, insurance, developing our themes and working out how we made the activities engaging and fund for the children we opened on time and we had started.

We have spent the last year building up and developing the highest quality service at the schools. We have continued to work in an open and transparent way with the principals, staff, parents and above all the children that we care for. The children and parents that use the service and the principals and staff that we work with are our best ambassadors and our best form of feedback and we listen very carefully to them. We have heard some wonderful stories from children and parents which make us very proud of what we have achieved and of our staff and the school staff that we work with.

Mid way through our first year of operations, we received a number of further enquiries for services within our territory. We followed the same process as before and we now look forward to opening two further schools in September and a fifth soon after that.  We will be spending the summer completing preparations for working with the new schools and are excited about developing these and other services further whilst always retaining the high quality possible in our services which can continue to be proud of.
